Real experiences help the individual learn advanced abstract concepts. The experiences might result in paths, which allow the individual to actively collect information to learn and become a member of the community of practice. Perhaps critical thinking and reflection may refine ideas or lead the individual to consider alternate possibilities. Each phase potentially leads to another and builds upon the former.
Experiential learning is a method of educating through first-hand experience. Skills, knowledge and experience are acquired outside of the traditional academic classroom setting, and may include internships, studies abroad, field trips, field research and service learning projects. Bodhi emphasizes on experiential learning by providing the real-life experimentation facilities. Field trips are a part of this phenomenon.

Pre Primary

Bodhi International School follows kindergarten system of education in the pre-primary section. Young children are generally motivated to learn about everything. Our kindergarten teachers play an integral role in early childhood development by fostering basic intellectual and social foundations. To build these foundations, our teachers are trained to implement several teaching methods that challenge students to express themselves while learning.

For effective delivery of kindergarten teaching methodology, BIS has self-designed theme based curriculum. Our all classrooms are fun environment with bright, vibrant colours and other mentally stimulating components. Toddlers are taught through a variety of activities, such as read aloud and demonstration. Our kindergarten teachers use whole group instruction when introducing new concepts, such as letter sounds, a new math concept etc. Class discussions and question and answer sessions usually fall under whole group instruction, as well.

Middle School (VI – VIII)

Bodhi International School offers Cambridge International Education’s Secondary-1 checkpoint curriculum to grade VI to Grade VIII students. Cambridge Secondary 1 develops skills and understanding in English, mathematics and science for the first three years of secondary education. It combines a world-class curriculum, high-quality support for teachers and integrated assessment. It is followed by the Cambridge IGCSEs from Grade IX.

Cambridge Secondary 1 has its roots in the National Curriculum for England. Each subject area has a separate curriculum framework presenting the learning objectives for each stage of Cambridge Secondary 1. It provides a clear structure for planning each stage as well as a description of the expectations for learners as they progress through the stages of Cambridge Secondary 1.

Apart from English, Math and Science, the other subjects across these three years are Hindi, Geography, History, Music, Art and Design, Physical Education, ICT (Information and Communication Technology / Computers), French as a foreign language and General Knowledge.

With its 70 subjects available in more than 30 languages, the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum offers a variety of routes for learners with a wide range of abilities, including those whose first language is not English. Cambridge ICE is a group award for Cambridge IGCSE, particularly popular in the US and South America. It allows students to offer a broad and balanced curriculum by recognising the achievements of learners who pass examinations in at least seven subjects, including two languages, and one subject from each of the other subject groups: humanities and social sciences, sciences, mathematics, and creative, technical and vocational.

Assessmentat Bodhi International School is geared toward improving, rather than simply documenting, student performance. We strongly believe that the use of assessment to judge the effectiveness of both teaching and learning processes is essential to allow teachers and students to identify their strengths and weaknesses and the effectiveness of the program.

Assessment is designed by teachers to incorporate a variety of methods and to be relevant and motivating to students. It is geared toward appraisal of a broad range of concepts, attitudes, knowledge and skills appropriate to an international and increasingly complex world.

Apart from varieties of formative assessments such as regular class tests, projects, field trips etc. BODHI has following types of internal and external assessments:

Internal Summative Assessment:

 The entire academic session comprises of two segments and summative assessments take place at the end of each segment generally in September and March.

External Assessments:

 Grade VIII students appear for checkpoint tests in English, Mathematics and Science conducted by Cambridge International Examination at the end of the session.

IGCSE students write their board exam in the month of February and March every year.
